Happy Sunday purples!

It’s a bit of a dreary day on the goldy today, but I have been inside working on some writing projects so the day has been pretty perfect for that.  This will be the last of my writing for today though, so let’s get to it!

Today I want to tell you about a lesson that I learned yesterday.  I am actually surprised that it is not something that I have come up against before, but it is good that it has now.  I went out to lunch and it was at a Chinese restaurant.  I love Chinese, but it was not an off plan day for me, so I wanted to eat as healthy as I could which for me means no rice and no noodles, as they convert straight to fat for me.  So I studied the menu which had pictures of the dishes with their names underneath.  I found what looked to be mostly vegetables with some seafood and chicken.  The picture didn’t seem to have any noodles or rice with it, so I thought that would be my best option.  I didn’t recognise the name of the dish, but the picture looked fine so I went with it.

The dish came out and my heart sank.  It looked nothing like the picture and was basically a plate FULL of stir fried flat noodles with some fried egg omelette, seafood and chicken mixed through it.  No vegetables at all.  Upon comparing the dish with the picture again and again, they really did not look even the least bit alike and when I looked at the name of the dish again, I realised that although I couldn’t pronounce 3 of the words in the name, one of the words was very clear – FRIED!  I don’t know why that word didn’t stand out to me in the first place!  I am as thick as those noodles sometimes I swear!

So what was the lesson I learned?  Firstly, don’t rely on a picture of a dish as pictures can quite often be deceiving.  Secondly, look out for words that describe how a dish is cooked – like FRIED!!  Lastly, but certainly no less important, if I am not 100% sure of what a dish is or what is in it, freakin’ ask for goodness sake!

Have a great week everyone!

Shari
